# Windows 10 End of Life: Why You Need to Upgrade Now
Windows 10 reached its end of support in October 2025, and it's no longer receiving security updates. If you're still running it, your computer is exposed to any vulnerability discovered since that date.
What Does End of Life Mean?
When an operating system reaches end of life, it stops receiving security patches. Any vulnerability discovered after that point goes unfixed, which makes an unsupported computer an easy target for hackers and malware.
Your Options
You have a few choices: upgrade to Windows 11 (if your hardware supports it), buy a new PC with Windows 11 pre-installed, or switch to an alternative like Linux.
Can My Computer Run Windows 11?
Not all computers can run Windows 11. It requires a TPM 2.0 chip, Secure Boot, and a relatively modern processor. If your PC is more than 5-6 years old, it likely won't qualify.
