Remote Computer Diagnostics in Glendale, CA
Typical price · From $75

Remote diagnostics at Technoland is a live screen-share session over TeamViewer, used to diagnose and fix software problems without a drive to the shop — slow performance, error messages, malware and virus cleanup, and setup or configuration issues. It starts at $75: after you call, email, or submit the estimate form and describe the problem, we quote the fee for that session, which can run higher depending on what's involved, before it starts. That's different from the in-shop $75 diagnostic, which is flat and credited toward a repair — a remote session usually diagnoses and fixes the issue in the same sitting, so there's typically no separate repair afterward to credit it against. It's not a substitute for hands-on repair — anything involving physical hardware (a cracked screen, a failing drive, a machine that won't boot far enough to reach a remote session) still needs to come into the shop, and we'll tell you that on the call rather than string out a session that can't actually fix it.
- Diagnosis happens over a live TeamViewer screen-share — no drop-off needed for software issues.
- Starts at $75. After you call, email, or fill out the estimate form and describe the problem, we quote the fee for that session — it can run higher depending on what's involved, and you'll have that number before it starts.
- Most sessions are same-day. Hardware problems still need the shop — we'll tell you upfront if that's what you're looking at.
- Backed by the same 30-day labor warranty as in-shop repairs. Steve has done this work for 38 years.

$75 is the standard starting rate. After you call, email, or fill out the estimate form and describe the problem, we quote the fee for that session — it can run higher depending on what's involved, and you'll have that number before it starts.
This isn't the same as the in-shop $75 diagnostic, which is flat and credited toward a repair. A remote session usually resolves the issue in the same sitting, so there's typically no separate repair afterward to credit it against.
Honest scope
What we don't do
Remote diagnostics can't touch hardware. Cracked screens, failing drives, dead batteries, keyboard and trackpad repairs, and anything that needs the case opened all require the machine in front of Steve, not a screen-share. The same is true if the computer won't boot far enough to load a remote session in the first place. If that turns out to be the case, we'll tell you on the call — this isn't a way to avoid the shop for a problem that actually needs it, just a faster path for the problems that don't.
Why Technoland
Where we're different
- 01
Skip the drive for software problems — most sessions wrap up in one sitting.
- 02
Same technician, same standards as in-shop work. Steve, not a call-center script.
- 03
38 years fixing these exact problems.
- 04
A straight answer if it needs to come in, instead of stringing out a session that can't fix it.
Steve told me my old laptop wasn't worth fixing, instead of charging me to find out. That's the only kind of repair shop I trust.

FAQ
Frequently asked
For software problems, yes — it's the same troubleshooting, done over a screen-share instead of at the bench. The limit is physical: anything involving hardware, or a machine that can't boot far enough to load a remote session, needs to come into the shop.
Call us first and describe the problem. If it's a fit for remote, we'll walk you through installing TeamViewer (a free, well-known screen-sharing tool), you'll see everything Steve does on your screen in real time, and the session ends when you close the app — nothing stays installed or connected afterward.
Not the same way. The in-shop $75 diagnostic is credited toward repair because there's usually a separate repair phase after it. A remote session typically diagnoses and fixes the issue in the same sitting, so there's no separate repair total to credit it against — the fee we quote you after hearing about your issue is the price for that session.
You start and end the session, and you can watch the whole time. TeamViewer is the same tool many IT departments and other repair shops use for exactly this. We only access what's needed to diagnose and fix the issue you called about.
If the problem turns out to be hardware, or the machine can't reach a remote session at all, we'll tell you that before doing any work and you'll know your options — bring it in for a hands-on diagnostic, or decide not to proceed.
Remote diagnostics works anywhere with an internet connection — it isn't limited by driving distance the way our in-shop repairs are. If you can get online, we can take a look.
